Fellowships for Graduate Students
Graduate Fellowship Application [PDF]
The Center for Ethics and Public Affairs encourages teaching and research on ethics, in moral and political philosophy, and in public life and the professions. The Center’s Graduate Fellowships support outstanding Tulane graduate students in these fields.
Activities
Graduate fellows are expected to devote their time to an approved course of research and study and are invited to the Center’s twice- monthly Center Seminar. Graduate fellows also are encouraged to take part in the broader intellectual life of the Center with visiting Faculty Fellows.

With the help of their dissertation directors, Graduate Fellows are also responsible for inviting a speaker to come to the Center for the purpose of giving a University-wide lecture. Graduate Fellows are encouraged to invite a speaker whose work has influenced their own research.
Eligibility
Graduate Fellows are selected by members of Center’s Faculty Executive Committee. Student applicants should be enrolled in a doctoral program at Tulane University or in one of Tulane’s professional schools; and should have completed all course requirements and general examinations by September prior to the fellowship year. The Center seeks applicants who have excelled in their fields of specialization, have demonstrated an interest in ethical questions that cut across disciplinary boundaries, and who are likely to make significant contributions to teaching and scholarship in the fields of ethics, moral and political philosophy, political theory, or professional ethics.
Awards
Graduate Fellows receive a stipend for one academic year, which varies according to individual circumstance. Awards will be announced in April for the upcoming academic year.
