Mary Nichols is Professor of Political Science at Baylor University. She received her B.A. from Newcomb College of Tulane University, her M.A. from the University of Kansas, and her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Her research interests include the history of political thought, especially Greek political theory; politics and literature; gender and political philosophy; and politics and film. Professor Nichols is the author of Reconstructing Woody: Art, Love and Life in the Films of Woody Allen (Rowman and Littlefield, 1992), Citizens and Statesmen: A Study of Aristotle’s Politics (Rowman and Littlefield, 1998), Socrates and the Political Community: An Ancient Debate (Suny, 1987) and Readings in American Government, 7th ed.(Kendall/Hunt Publishing, 2004). Her new book, Socrates on Friendship and Community:
Reflections on Plato’s Symposium, Phaedrus, and Lysis, will be available in December from Cambridge University Press.
