Michael E. Zimmerman is Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Center for Humanities and the Arts at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Professor Zimmerman’s books include Eclipse of the Self: The Development of Heidegger’s Concept of Authenticity (Ohio University Press, 1981; Second edition, 1986), Heidegger’s Confrontation with Modernity: Technology, Politics, and Art (Indiana University Press, 1990), and Contesting Earth’s Future: Radical Ecology and Postmodernity (University of California Press, 1994). In addition, he is the editor of two anthologies: The Thought of Martin Heidegger, Vol. XXXII, Tulane Studies in Philosophy (1984), and Environmental Philosophy: From Animal Rights to Radical Ecology (Prentice-Hall, 1993, Second edition, 1998, Third edition, 2001. Fourth edition, 2004), as well as dozens of scholarly articles and essays.

Professor Zimmerman has been the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Fulbright-Hays Foundation, and the Woodrow Wilson Foundation.
