Michael Freeden is Professor of Politics, University of Oxford, and Professorial Fellow of Mansfield College, Oxford. He specializes in the study of modern ideologies, in modern British political thought, in liberal theory, and in the theory of welfare rights. Professor Freeden has written extensively on the development of the liberal tradition in the Western world. His widely noticed publications include The New Liberalism: An Ideology of Social Reform (1978), Liberalism Divided: A Study in British Political Thought 1914-1939 (1986), and Reassessing Political Ideologies: The Durability of Dissent (2001).
