Mark Lentz is a doctoral candidate in Latin American history, writing his dissertation, “Murder in Mirada, 1792: Violence, Factions and the Law in Colonial Yucatan” under the direction of Professor Susan Schroeder. His research interests include indigenous and Creole interaction in colonial Yucatan, the Atlantic world, Maya epigraphy, religion in colonial America, and migration research.
In 2005-2006 he was the recipient of a Fulbright Award for graduate research in Spain’s Archivo General de las Indias, Seville, and the Archivo Historico Nacional, Madrid.
